| Craig picks us up at the hotel on Monday for our trip to Zlin. We made accommodations at the Pension Uno which turned out to outstanding. During our ten day stay there, Chesmire and Hanna made sure we were happy and went out of their way to accomplish this. Chesmire wore many hats in his daily duties. Taxi driver (if you don’t want to walk up and down the hill), tour guide, host, and one hell of a cook. His breakfasts and dinners far exceed anything you would get in the US. I would highly recommend the Pension Uno to anyone who stays in Zlin. In fact, we plan to return later this year and will definitely stay there again. One thing to keep in mind, don’t try to drink Chesmire under the table. You will lose. We went for our first office visit on Tuesday. It is a real change to see a doctor waiting for you and not the other way around. We were introduced to the staff and Dr. Anna talked to us for quite a while informing us of the procedure. Afterwards, I am escorted to the “closet” to make a deposit (the only part of the procedure that I hate). We then return to our hotel to rest and plan what to do with the next three to five days waiting for the embryo implant. There are many sites to see and places to go that are only a short hour drive from Zlin. Wished we could have gone to Austria, but next time. We get the call on the third day that all the eggs were fertilized and doing well. The doctor wants to go for a day five transfer which is great. Day five rolled around and it was time for the show. We arrive at the clinic early in the morning, ushered right into a room where my wife can relax. Then she is taken into the transfer room (far better than the US counterparts). The transfer goes quickly with three blastocyst inserted. Back to the room for a while, then to the Pension Uno to allow my wife time be sure all went well. She stayed in bed for two whole days trying to make sure that things wouldn’t fall out. After another couple of days in Zlin, we returned to Prague for on last night before our trip home. We were lucky to find a taxi driver who spoke very good English, and also a great tour guide of the city. He drove us around for a couple of hours for a total charge of under fifty dollars stopping when my wife asked him to take pictures. During our stay there, the Fites were always ready to help with anything. They provided the transportation to and from the clinic along with all the translations when needed. You could not ask for a better set of hosts. They go out of their way to make sure all goes well and that you are happy. Highly recommend them to anyone. Now the wait….even though people advise against it, we had to try the EPT to just satisfy our curiosity. The next five days showed five “positives”. And the official blood test confirmed it, we were pregnant. We are going into our eighteenth week and all is well. Don’t know what it is and don’t want to know. Due date is only 4 and a half months away and time is flying. We just hope the fairy tale ends on a happy note. Before anyone does an IVF in the USA, I would highly recommend they talk to Craig or Marcella and get the info about their program. I could have saved a lot of money had I gone to the Czech Republic first. They manage the whole procedure, and the only thing you have to do is to relax and enjoy it. This was better than going to Hawaii. Since both of us are of Czech decent, it seems only fitting that the baby will be a mix of sixth and first generation Czech. March 2007 - Amalia is in her 23rd week of pregnancy and they are planning on finding out the sex of the baby after the baby is born. They are already decided to come for a sibling as soon as possible. June 2007 - Amalia is now mad that she is not the most important little girl in my life.... The miracle happened on June 15th 2007 at 7:29 AM, 5 lb 6.7 oz, 18.5 inches long. Her name is Emily Anne. Wayne said that both Amalia and baby Emma are doing great both of them are healthy. |
