| That being said... you could only imagine our surprise when I simply was not responding to the fertility drugs as Dr. Anna had hoped. At the end of the cycle I only gave up two eggs. Which I am told is not very many to work with. As discouraged at times as we were I struggled to stay optimistic with my husband. Staying focused on the outcome we wanted to see happen was very important to us and truly was an exercise in our faith. After considering our circumstances we discussed possible outcomes, and the realization that we may be in a position to do another cycle back to back if needed. I being in business for myself had the luxury of staying behind if need be. So, after the transfer on the 21st of February we had decided to stay long enough to also take the pregnancy test there at the clinic in case it came out negative we could prepare to begin another cycle. Although Craig and Marcela were in the states at this time they were wonderful about our changing plans and preparing us for another stay. Meanwhile we now had ten days to go off and travel a bit. I strongly recommend going to Vienna, it was my favorite. I could only imagine what that already beautiful city would look like in the spring. Rupert and I went to some cathedrals, the museum of natural history, and my favorite the Spanish riding school to see the famous Lipizzaner performance. It was a lovely three days. After that we headed off to Prague (Rupert’s favorite). With its old medieval style architecture and beautiful St. Charles bridge we could have easily stayed much longer. Another small town we found very charming was Olomouc and it was only an hour from Zlin. In fact we enjoyed it so much we made two trips. Now it was time to get back and take an important test. We got to the clinic first thing in the morning on the 5th of March and I am telling you the waiting is the hardest part. Finally, Dr. Anna and Zuska were standing there in the office to give us the wonderful news. We were pregnant! Thank god for that because by this time I was terribly home sick. We were thrilled to be given such great news and very happy that we would get to be going home together. As far as I am concerned The Clinic of Reproductive Medicine really does perform miracles in more ways than one. We could never thank them enough. Although the clinic was only able to retrieve two eggs, both were successfully fertilized and transferred back to me in less than 48 hours. It was all we needed, we are pregnant with twins! Our due date is November 14th 2007. Craig says it’s a good thing they were not able to get four from me. I agree, two is plenty…. P.S. Please let anyone who is interested asking questions before they go have our phone number and email: jenlighthand@hotmail.com.
